The Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics successfully hosted the Search for Outstanding Mathlete 2016 last January 16 and February 25. On both dates, the elimination phase was held at the Math Building. The final phase was held in NCAS Auditorium for the Secondary Level and in the DL Umali auditorium in the Tertiary level. Albert John Patupat of Holy Rosary College bested 132 participants in the secondary level. He took home a medal, a plaque and php15000 in cash. Meanwhile, Mark Eullysis Alzaga from FEU garnered the first prize for the tertiary level, bringing home a plaque, a medal and PHP25,000 in cash. He bested 178 students from 27 schools.

Dr. Rogel Mari D. Sese will travel to the Netherlands on 24-31 March 2012 to attend the workshop entitled "Astronomy to Inspire and Educate Young Children: EU-Universe Awareness Workshop" at the Lorentz Center in Leiden University.
