MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines is sending four brilliant minds to participate in the prestigious Asian Science Camp (ASC), which will be held in Jerusalem, Israel from August 26-30. The conference, which has been promoting young scientists from all over Asia and the Pacific, will gather three hundred young geniuses and it will include John Keith Velasquez Magali, Shereyl Aguirre Daguinod, Rovi Angelo Beloya Villaos, and Nicole Dayanghirang Olayres of the University of the Philippines-Los Banos. They are headed by faculty adviser, Mr. Lou Serafin Lozada.

The students, all below the age of 20, will participate in the camp, also referred to as "The Summit of Genius," which has been ongoing for the past six years with a different host country every year. It is the initiative of a number of Nobel Prize Laureates in the Sciences from eastern Asia who set for themselves the goal of creating a platform that will locate and promote the future generation of scientists from Asia.

Most of its activities will be held on the Hebrew University's Edmund J. Safra Campus on Givat Ram and will offer the participants a substantial portion of basic science in the spheres of physics, chemistry, the life sciences, and mathematics from the best scientific minds in those areas in Israel and from around the world. Furthermore, the Science Camp is planned to offer the guests a unique and diverse Israeli experience.

In addition to the academic content, the lectures by leading scientists and the inspiring encounters in small groups with Nobel Prize Laureates, and the work on a project in multi-national groups, the participants will benefit from a substantial portion of the Israeli experience. The aim of the Science Camp's organizers is to expose the young guests to Israel's diversity – the ancient with its historic and cultural depth, and the youthful with its dynamic and effervescent character.

The opening ceremonies will be presided by none other than His Excellency, President Shimon Peres on Sunday, August 26. The students will also be given the chance to explore Israel's beauty with a tour of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv during the conference.
